Experimental tests and modeling on a CHP biomass plant

Guido Marseglia; Carlo Maria Medaglia; Alessandro Petrozzi; Andrea Nicolini; Franco Cotana; Federico Sormani - Renewable energy sources can help the countries to achieve some of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provided from the recent 2030 Agenda, allowing for clean, secure, reliable and affordable energy. Biomass technology is a relevant renewable energy to contribute to reach a clean and affordable energy production system with important emissions reduction of greenhouse gases (GHG).

Experimental and numerical techniques to detect pollutant formation in transport sector

Guido Marseglia; Carlo Maria Medaglia; Francisco Alonso Ortega; Juan Antonio Mesa; David Canca - In recent years, the growth of fossil fuel use and greenhouse gases emissions (GHGs) has been promoted by the population increase and development of the industry sector. Due to the increasing attention towards the effects of climate changes on quality of life, recent researches on pollutant formation processes have been developed in different sectors, especially in transportation.

Analyzing Social Impact Evaluation Tools Applied to Design Thinking: A Proposal for Improving User Experience in Urban Spaces Through Social Innovation

Volpi V., Opromolla A., Medaglia C.M. - The digital and social transformation we are facing affects also the urban spaces by redirecting the attention and the efforts of different stakeholders towards a renewed interest for the human aspect of the city and for behaviors more aware of their possible impacts at a systemic level on society and environment.

Optimal alignments for designing urban transport systems: application to Seville

Guido Marseglia, Carlo Maria Medaglia, Francisco Alonso Ortega, Juan Antonio Mesa - The achievement of some of the SDGs has drawn the attention of many countries towards urban transport networks. Mathematical modeling allows the formal description of a transportation system whereby it facilitates the introduction of variables and the definition of objectives to be optimized.

A stress-driven local-nonlocal mixture model for Timoshenko nano-beams

Raffaele Barretta, Andrea Caporale, S. Ali Faghidian, Raimondo Luciano, Francesco Marotti de Sciarra, Carlo Maria Medaglia - A well-posed stress-driven mixture is proposed for Timoshenko nano-beams. The model is a convex combination of local and nonlocal phases and circumvents some problems of ill-posedness emerged in strain-driven Eringen-like formulations for structures of nanotechnological interest.

Stress-driven two-phase integral elasticity for torsion of nano-beams

Barretta Raffaele, Faghidian S. Ali, Luciano Raimonso, Medaglia Carlo Maria, Penna Rosa - Size-dependent structural behavior of nano-beams under torsion is investigated by two-phase integral elasticity. An effective torsional model is proposed by convexly combining the purely nonlocal integral stress-driven relation with a local phase. Unlike Eringen's strain-driven mixture, the projected model does not exhibit singular behaviors and leads to well-posed elastostatic problems in all cases of technical interest.
