Abstract:

In the past years, a widely shared view recognized the relevance of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the importance to integrate ICT in Educa- tion. Thanks also to the efforts undertaken by the European Commission with the launching of the Bologna Process (1999), which assigns to ICT an important role in the promotion of Lifelong Learning as tool for the future of the European Higher Education Area. Scientific literature provides several contributions about the quality of e-learning, showing the com- plexity of the quality concept that incorporates the ‘subjective’ and ‘contextual’ dimension as well as the ‘objective’ dimensions. The essay aims at discussing the problem of e-learning quality standards for e-learning activities. For this reason, we present as a case study, one of the most important online universities, which is distinguished by its attention to the problem of e-learning quality standards.
